WELCOME to FORBIDDEN CITY !
Forbidden City is a community space for Vancouver’s Transgender, Open-Minded, and Crossdress communities. We are a discreet, private facility located in the Downtown West End where you can be yourself, have fun and mix with others in a respectful, enjoyable and safe environment. We operate as well a small boutique called Cedar Cottage Thrift from the same location.
Our Boutique hours are Tues through Sunday from Noon until 7 PM
We are an intimate community space with social club and theatre on one side and boutique section on the other. The space is very clean, discreet and safe. We are a welcoming space for all open-minded lifestyles. Please be respectful of the various people who visit Forbidden City.
We have a discreet entrance for guests privacy. For information on Forbidden City please call (604) 446-2489. Please note that it is best to call if you are only seeking information on Forbidden City. Unfortunately we do not receive calls from blocked numbers so no information will be provided to any blocked caller. This is to ensure safety and security for all.
Fees and Prices
- Prices for crossdress makeover & transformation services range from $60 – 100
- Various affordable prices for wigs, shoes, clothing and other accessories
- Special Events are $30-$40

Parking and Transit:
There is plenty of reasonably priced metered parking on Alberni and other nearby side streets. We are located close to the intersection of Denman and Robson. Also a number of paid parking lots are located one block away. Our facility is serviced by a number of local bus routes.
Forbidden City is a discreet space which is safe and secure. We are located in an area known for its colourfulness and tolerance. This provides for your safety and peace of mind. Please be aware that there is no signage of Forbidden City other than a small red sign in the door window saying Open.
No heavily intoxicated persons will be admitted. We reserve the right to refuse entry to any person. If you are asked to leave there are no refunds.
